Rio 2016 Swimming schedule and dates has been come. The swimming competitions at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro are scheduled to take place from 6 August to 13 August at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium(Rio 2016 pool). The open-water marathon will be held on 15 and 16 August in Fort Copacabana.

For Rio 2016 qualification for swimmers, every country already started trials and This year for Rio olympics, Every swimmers shall give more efforts for clear the Rio 2016 qualifying times for every swimming events.

Similar to the system’s format in 2012 London Olympics , swimming attributes a total of 34 events 17 each for males and girls, which includes two 10 km open-water marathons. The following events will be contested all pool events are long course, and distances are in meters unless stated:

  • Backstroke: 100m and 200m;
  • Breaststroke: 100m and 200m;
  • Freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m (women), and 1,500m (men);
  • Butterfly: 100m and 200m;
  • Individual medley: 200m and 400m;
  • Relays: 4×100m freestyle, 4×200m free; 4×100m medley
  • Marathon: 10 kilometers

Rio 2016 Swimming Schedule

Similar to London Olympics since2000, with the exception of 2008, the swimming schedule will take place in two segments. For the pool events, prelims are held in the afternoon, followed by the semifinals and final in the evening session.
