Florent Manaudou, the 2012 Olympic champion in the 50m freestyle, clocked Thursday night’s fastest time in the field at 21.32 seconds to advance to Friday’s Men’s 50m Freestyle final in first place.

In the second semifinal, the U.S.’ Anthony Ervin and Ukraine’s Andriy Govorov tied at 21.46 seconds.

Nathan Adrian, who Wednesday night earned a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle and a 4x100m freestyle relay gold medal earlier in the week, advanced in fourth place with his time of 21.47 seconds. :- NbcOlympics.com.

Nathan Adrian is an American competitive swimmer and four-time Olympic gold medalist who currently holds the American record in the long course 50-meter freestyle event.

Florent Manaudou is a French competitive swimmer, an Olympic champion of the 50-meter freestyle at the 2012 London Olympics, and the younger brother of Laure Manaudou, an 2004 Olympic gold medalist in swimming.

Anthony Lee Ervin is an American competition swimmer who has won three Olympic medals and two World Championship golds.

Bruno Giuseppe Fratus is a Brazilian competitive swimmer who placed fourth in 50-metre freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
