According to police, the deceased — identified as Drishti Singh, a resident of Rosalie Complex in Khadakpada of Kalyan went into the swimming pool at about 11.20 am when there were about 15 residents inside the pool. Surprisingly, not a single noticed that she was drowning. The family said Drishti left for the pool around 10.30am on Sunday after breakfast. It was around 11am that Balwant saw her floundering in the pool from his balcony and rushed to inform Drishti’s mother Vijeta. Her father, Jaswant Singh, a 39-year-old businessman, alleged negligence on element of the lifeguard Hemant Raut.

When the incident took place, about 15 men and women were here in the pool and cops suspect that the girl accidentally slipped into water entered her nose, leading to her death. The victim’s family said Drishti would always use the shallow 2.5-foot children’s pool section, as she was still learning to swim. They have no idea how she landed up in the regular, 4.5-foot pool area.

The father of the girl has lodged a complaint that the girl died due to negligence of the lifeguard. “We suspect that the girl lost her balance and slipped into the deeper section of the pool,” said a police. We have registered the case under section 304(A) (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code and are additional investigating the case,” stated PRO Thane police division Sukhada Narkar.

How could the parents allow their child to enter the swimming pool area unchaperoned?

Why none of the people see or hear her ?
